CLEAR NUMBERS. NO MYSTERY.
How your trip estimate works.
A useful starting point for your plans—not a booking quote, a promise of availability, or professional financial advice.
1. A trip that’s actually yours
Choose your destination, home country, departure city, dates, group size, and travel style. The estimate includes economy round-trip flights for every travel style, accommodation, food, local transport, activities, insurance, your visa allowance, and a 10–15% buffer. A trip of seven nights uses eight days of daily spending.
2. Live currency conversion
We request USD-based reference exchange rates from Frankfurter, which uses institutional reference data. Successful rates are cached for 24 hours in your browser and in warm server instances, then refreshed on the next calculation. Reference rates typically update on business days, not continuously. A server restart may require an extra fetch. If the provider fails, we use the last cached rates, or a clearly labeled September 9, 2026 snapshot. These are not card or cash exchange quotes; fees and spreads are not included.
3. Honest fallback estimates
Live flight, hotel, and cost-of-living providers are not connected yet. Flight estimates use great-circle route distance: approximately USD 180 plus USD 0.072 per kilometer for a round trip, before seasonality, with a short-route minimum. This is a heuristic, not a measured average fare. Hotels and everyday expenses use an editorial destination multiplier ranging from 0.42 to 1.50 and budget, mid-range, or luxury allowances. These static multipliers are not Numbeo data or verified current market prices.
4. Seasons, rooms, and children
For each night, a broadly defined peak month uses a 1.25 multiplier and other months use 0.95. The average applies to flights and accommodation, not everyday spending. Local events and booking lead times are not modeled. Accommodation assumes two guests per room, rounded up. Children under 12 receive 85% of an adult flight allowance and 65% of daily food, transport, and activity allowances. Infant fares, family rooms, and actual child policies vary by provider.
5. The costs that need your attention
Insurance uses a USD 6 per-person, per-day allowance, not an offer of coverage. Visa fees are estimated automatically from your home country’s passport tier and the destination’s typical visa policy. Travelers with strong passports often enter visa-free or via a low-cost electronic authorization, while others may need a full visitor visa. The estimate is a planning baseline—verify exact requirements, processing times, and fees with official sources for your specific nationality and destination. Miscellaneous spending is your selected percentage of the entire subtotal. Known baggage fees, tourist taxes, major excursions, and intercity tickets should be checked separately; a buffer is not a substitute for verified quotes.
6. Your email is optional
